Hello Spring!!! (NOT) I thought it would be a good 1 st day, but it was a cold one. I wish we were still
in the Philippines, basking in the sun at the beach.
Anyway, we are back! Back to reality!
Lady Dixie & I extend our most gratitude to those who joined us in our trip to the Philippines. Ill. Jack
& Suzanne, Ill. Tom & Marilyn, Ill. John & Rose, CR Brett & Emelie, Dave & Deb, John & Deborah,
Dave V & Dave E., Eric Darcey & Diondre, you guys are the best and you made the trip a successful one. Our family in the Philippines is honored to have met all of you and they all miss you.
I would also like to thank the MABUHAY SHRINERS, led by Ill. Mark Llandro Mendoza, PP 2025,
who welcomed us with utmost respect and kindness. From welcoming us with VIP treatment at the airport, picking us up at the hotel to take us to their temple, giving us a presentation about their temple, to presenting us the iconic Jeepney, giving us a tour of their Grand Lodge, taking us out for lunch in one of the hotels in Manila, sharing and showing us about Manila, Luneta (Rizal Park) and the Intramuros area. We really appreciate the hospitality and camaraderie. It was a day to remember that brotherhood and philanthropy still exist even across the seas. (More pictures in this issue)
Also, yours truly attended the NSA mid-winter at Hyannis, MA last March 12-1. Imperial Sir Mark Hartz (Assistant Raban) was there to tell us the new chapter about the hospitals (we will let you know as soon as we have the info) also, the membership & mentorship was the emphasis of his talk.
St. Patrick’s Day corned beef & cabbage event, we had 50 people signed up. The pound auction was led by Ill. Lloyd Doughty as the auctioneer, was a hit with a total of $1,165.00 to which the chef’s donated to the 1st lady’s project. The food was enjoyed by all. To those who signed up, to the Bektash Chef’s crew, Celeste our bartender and to those who brough items for the pound auction a big THANK YOU!!
Please don’t forget to support the Bektash Breakfast buffet which will be on April 12th . Please spread the word, this is open to the public. (see the flyer in this issue)
Also, don’t forget the Unit &Club night that is spearheaded by our Marshal/Colonel Dave Vachon which will be held on April 18th.
Fun & Fellowship will commence in May. Please mark your calendar with the dates (please see flyer in this issue).
Don’t forget, WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER, helping kids and the hospital while having fun and enjoying it too.
Lady Dixie and I appreciate you all.
Fraternally,
Ken Thoroughgood
