Having just returned from the Northeast Shrine Associations Fall Field days I am going to paraphrase a line I heard repeatedly this past weekend and attribute it to Imp. Sir Mark Hartz, “It’s GREAT TO BE A SHRINER”!!
What a weekend!! FUN, FELLOWSHIP, a great parade, and plenty of things to do!! Aleppo Shriners hit this one out of the park!! Hospitality galore, a smoking tent and a water park!! Not to mention restaurants galore!! NORTHEAST ALWAYS DOES IT RIGHT!!
It’s GREAT TO BE A SHRINER!!
As I work back into things that are Bektash, I will highlight some important items on the radar along with some great upcoming events for us to think about.
Last week our monthly FIS Training Call focused on Dues and the important dates coming up and so I will speak briefly on this topic.
September you will start seeing e-mails, should you have e-mail, regarding dues. Hard Copy dues notices will be coming in October. Potential suspension notices will be also coming during that time frame. November brings another round of post card type notices with another e-mail type in December.
As I wrote last month, the per capita has risen $4.00 and thus your dues notices will reflect that increase. That means your total assessment is $114.00. It breaks out as follows: $55.00 to Bektash, $54.00 to Imperial and $5.00 Hospital assessment.
You can start remitting your dues any time now. We will ensure, as we always do, that you will be credited appropriately. Sending checks to Bektash is always acceptable. And YES, you can still call the office, and we can walk you through paying by card. Whatever we can do to make these payments easy for YOU is our goal.
And if you are having any kind of a problem or issue, please, let us know. We are here to help.
September is going to be extremely busy for us here at Bektash!!
Please don’t forget that the date of our Stated Meeting was moved to accommodate the 6th Annual Lady Amy Golf Tournament.
The STATED MEETING will occur on Monday September 14th commencing with light fare at 6PM followed by the meeting at 7PM. As always, Dixie is working diligently on a Ladies program for the evening!!
The Monthly Finance meeting will occur on Wednesday the 9th. 6PM start time. Due to the Labor Day Holiday and Voting on the 8th, this was the best date we could accommodate.
On Sunday September 13th the Chef’[s again will host their Sunday Brunch which leads to SUNDAY BRUNCH BINGO!! COME HAVE A GREAT BREAKFAST AND SOME BINGO FUN!!
Our next Fun and Fellowship event will occur on Friday September 18th commencing at 5:30PM. The theme is Cheeseburger in Paradise, Parrot Head Night!! Celebrate with your Shrine friends National Cheeseburger day and don’t forget to wear your best Parrot Head, Hawaiian Outfit!! See more on this event in this edition!!
Monday September 21st is the 6th Annual Lady Amy Gold Tournament at Pembroke Pines!! Please support your Shrine by sponsoring a hole, playing, and assisting either at the course or at the Shrine for the post golf activities!! And if you don’t play golf or can take the day off, please know we’d love to see you post golf at the after golf event at Bektash!! Please see flyers and announcements in this edition for more information!!
Please Nobles, Lady’s and Friends, we do Bingo every Thursday night commencing at 4PM. We welcome you all, whether a novice or a beginner player or to help us as a volunteer, come be a part of the “Bektash Bingo Family”. Great people supporting a great cause!!
And it’s not too early to sign up for the Boston Haunted Walk on Sunday October 18th at The Garden at Elm Bank in Wellesley Massachusetts. It occurs from 10A to 12P!! Please reach out to the office if you are attending as there is a plan for Bektash participants to dress up for even more fun!! As I conclude, a few observations….
It’s GREAT TO BE A SHRINER!! But, you only get out of your membership what you put in. There are many opportunities here at Bektash for Shriners and their families to be a part of!! Fun and
Fellowship evenings, Mini Cars, Mini Monster Trucks, N. O. A. H. Cigar Group, Mariners/Yacht Club, the Outdoor Adventure Krew!, Clowns, Chef’s, Stewards, Legion of Honor, Bingo are all a part of our great Shrine!! And I am hearing that our Hillbillies are also working on getting back here at Bektash!! How awesome is that!! Looking forward to seeing you ALL!!
And let us all remember that the work we do benefits the greatest philanthropy in the world, SHRINERS CHILDRENS!! It’s far bigger than any one of us as individuals!! Coming together for our Shriners Children’s patients is the focus. Let us never forget that!!
On Tuesday September 8th the Shrine will again host voting for Concords Ward 8. Let us all remember our obligation as citizens of this great country. Wherever you reside, get out and VOTE!!
And Best of Luck to Niko Little, son of Ills. PP Paul and Lady Mili Little, as he heads off to the U S Navy as an aspiring Navy Seal. Thank you, and safest of travels to you Niko.
