Greetings Everyone,
What a great honor it is for Lady Susan and I to have been installed as Potentate and First Lady of Bektash Shrine. It is amazing how fast time flys and it seems like yesterday that Illustrious Freeman and Lady Amy first talked to us about joining the Divan.
The installation ceremony on the 6th went off without a hitch with the help of many who worked to pull it all together and offer encouragement. The snow stayed away until the evening allowing all to enjoy the food and dancing, before making their way home.
The day was unfortunately marked by the passing of Lady Sharon Hebert, Wife of Illustrious Past Potentate William ‘Bill’ Hebert, and a close friend of many of us. Lady Sharon was a long time active member of our Shrine and Past First Lady. Sharon worked tirelessly at many events to help others and make sure people had a great time. There will be quiet family arrangements for Lady Sharon, followed by a celebration of life on February 3rd at the Shrine.
We are very lucky this year to have been blessed with an amazing Divan. Both the elected and appointed Nobles and their Ladies have already been hard at work preparing a year of events and visitations for you to enjoy. As I write this the Valentines Ball is posted on our website for tickets and Nobles are working to organize the Easter EggStravaganza. Please help support, by volunteering at the Easter event. It’s fast becoming a staple of our year with appearances from local celebrities.
A new addition to our Shrine is a new Facebook group designed by Lady Amanda specifically for Shriner Ladies of Bektash. I was excited when this idea was first presented and Lady Amanda has been working hard to make it a reality.
Lady Susan and I are looking forward to catching up with you all personally at the Valentines Ball, which has always been one of our favorite events. Please also remember that you can reach out to myself or your divan if there is anything that we can do to help you or promote an activity in our Shrine.
