As I sit and write this article, we are preparing to leave for the Imperial session in Reno Nevada. This year seems to have flown by and shows no signs of slowing down.
Last month I talked about preparing for the Summer Ceremonial which was held in Fryburg Fairground on the 7th and 8th. It was a warm weekend, and the rain showers were timed perfectly to fit in with the weekend schedule. We had five candidates go through the full Ceremonial experience and join us as Nobles in Bektash Shrine. All did extremely well and joined in the fun.
We have just had our stated meeting which was well attended. Our Treasurer and Recorder brought the Nobles up to date on our business position and a bylaw change was laid over until the September meeting where it will be voted on.
We also heard from two members of the Divan and several Nobles about some new units that are planning to start. It’s great to see such positive growth in our Shrine. Fun and Fellowship has made a welcome return and has been well attended. As usual it’s a no dress code, no agenda, evening of fun and relaxing with friends. The next evening is July 12th so please mark your calendars and drop in on your way home from work.
July 20th is the Bektash Picnic which will be at the Shrine center. This is one of my favorite events and always a big success, thanks to the imagination and hard work of the organizers. I am led to believe that there will be some special events at this year’s picnic so we’re looking forward to seeing everyone have fun and enjoy the summer weather.
Next week is the Imperial session which this year is in Reno Nevada. We have a small delegation attending the event, and there have been lots of invitations to attend meetings and training, so it will be a busy time for all.
