Potentate’s Message July 2025

Jun 26, 2025 | Potentate

Greeting Nobles and Ladies,

What an incredible and fulfilling month it has been. We began by welcoming the National Outstanding Eagle Scout Awards, hosted at the Shrine Center in partnership with Scouting New Hampshire. It was a privilege to stand alongside such a respected youth program. A heartfelt thanks to Noble Michael Lothrop of the Stewards for stepping up and being available on short notice.

A big shoutout to our Bektash Chefs for launching the monthly Bektash Breakfast! Held on the second Sunday of each month, it’s not just a meal; it’s a chance to support one another, reconnect, and show our strength to the community. Mark those calendars!

Lady Amanda and I have been grateful for the continued opportunity to represent Bektash around the state. From the Scottish Rite Council of Deliberation to celebrating the installation of DeMolay’s new State Master Councilor, Lazlo Cloutier, the son of our own 1st Ceremonial Master, it’s been both humbling and inspiring. Laz, we’re proud of you and look forward to standing beside you this year.

And what a gift it was to spend time with the Yacht Club out on Jeffrey’s Ledge; whales, dolphins, and even a shark made it a day to remember. Fellowship doesn’t get much better than that.

We also had the distinct honor of joining our brothers to the south in supporting Aleppo’s 47th All-Star Football Game and transportation fund. Standing on the field alongside Illustrious Cliff Critch, Bo and his family representing our Boston Hospital and members of Aleppo’s Minutemen was truly moving. It’s a memory I’ll carry with me for a long time.

At our recent stated meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from Kerri Tichy, Senior Director of Philanthropy for Shriners Children’s – New England. Following her heartfelt presentation, we were proud to present her with a check for $14,683.39 the result of the 2024 past First Lady Susan Fillingham’s project. Thank you to the Legion of Honor for providing the meal for the stated meeting.

Our recent Fun and Fellowship night reminded me of everything that makes this fraternity special. Chief Rabban Kenny Thoroughgood and Lady Dixie served up an incredible evening, filled with food, laughter, and connection and of course, a special thanks to Jason Sanderson for delivering the ever-popular Turtle Degree what a night!

Looking ahead, I hope to see many of you at our Summer Picnic on July 26th at the Hidden Valley RV & Golf park in Derry, NH. It’s open to all Shriners and their families bring your smiles, your stories, and your spirit. We’ll be waiting with open arms.

Fraternally,
Evan McIntosh, Potentate
