Nobles, Illustrious Sirs, Ladies and Friends of Bektash
We had a great turnout at our Easter Eggstravaganza this year. This was our second year putting this on after taking it over from Concord TV. The baskets looked great this year. We had a great set of volunteers to assist and keep things moving smoothly over the weekend. We were also lucky this year to have wonderful performers who donated their time and services to Bektash. Thank You to Queen Elsa of Precious Parties by Kayla and to Mr. Aaron for his musical entertainment. I also want to thank Evan McIntosh for chairing this event again and making it a success in its second year.
Lady Mili and I made a visit to Melha Shriners for their Potentates reception in Holyoke MA. Several of the Northeast Shrine centers were in attendance. It was a great evening and always fun to enjoy the fun and fellowship together as an extended Shrine family.
Lady Mili and I, were accompanied by David Rouleau and his Lady Debbie for the annual Montreal Shriners Hospital Seminar. It is always enlightening and uplifting to see and learn what our hospitals are doing for the children. It is especially exciting to see it first hand at a seminar like this. David Rouleau presented the Hospital with a donation of $2,000 from the Bektash Shrine Clowns as well as a personal donation of his children’s book, “Woohoo goes to the circus”.
I also want to thank Pitco Frialator for donating to us, two new commercial frialators. The fryers are setup for LP gas and can be used for any of our outdoor cooking events. They will come in handy for sure.
We have a new unit !! Nobles of Arabic Hospitality. N.O.A.H. This unit is a Cigar unit. So, if you enjoy a good cigar in the company of great friends, then this is the place to be. They are accepting new members now. See the flyer in this edition of the Bektash News.
With Spring finally here, it is time again to think about grounds maintenance. We will be sprucing up the garden beds with some new mulch and tidying up the grounds around the center. Oriental Guide, Brett Hunter will be organizing a weekly lawn mowing schedule. If you are interested in lending a helping hand and want to sign up for a week or two for mowing, please contact Brett.
NSA Fall Field Days is quickly approaching. The early numbers that we have from the Mid Winter meeting are indicating that we are going to have a large turnout. Hotel rooms are going fast. We are going to have a Bektash family BBQ at the Hall for Bektash Nobles and families on Friday evening August 11th. Come on down and spend the NSA weekend with us.
