Potentate’s Message September 2022

Sep 11, 2022 | Potentate

September is upon us…

…which means kids and I are going back to school/work and fall is fast approaching.

The end of July and August has been very busy. Lady Kat and I attended Benevolent Lodge’s 225th Anniversary at Labelle Winery in Amherst. It’s always fun to be able to celebrate such great milestones in NH Masonry.

The Portsmouth Shrine Club held a Chicken BBQ event which Lady Kat, Lady Mili, Paul and myself attended. It’s always a great time going out to Hampton during the summer. None went away hungry, that’s for sure. A huge thanks goes to Ill PP Ed Daneault, Lady Ellie and the entire Portsmouth Shrine Club.

Every month the Membership Committee and Stewards have been teaming up and putting on Fellowship Fridays. Every time we attend I swear the food is getting better and more and more people are coming out. The objective is to just have fun so consider coming out next month. Bring the family, friends and other masons!

September 9th is the next Fellowship Friday. We were happy to go to Fenway Park with the winners of the Red Sox vs Yankees with the Potentate & First Lady Raffle. Though the Red Sox lost by 1, it was still great to be in that atmosphere.

We then had the pleasure of representing Bektash at the Order of Eastern Star Grand Chapter. Lady Kat and I enjoyed ourselves. It’s always nice to spend time with the other Masonic families. It was also a great time to socialize.

The very next day, Lady Kat and I attended the Prime Rib & Cigar Night at Bektash. We had a great time and a thanks goes out to Jared for chairing the event and even got the Owner of Hiram & Solomon Cigars to attend. Lastly, a round of applause for Illustrious Bill Hebert for cooking a very delicious meal!

Our next Stated Meeting will be held on Monday, September 12th. I encourage you to attend. A pot luck dinner at 6PM is being planned.

Lady Kat will be contacting the ladies, but the food theme this time around will be fall favorites.

On the weekend of September 15th-17th the NSA Fall Field Days will be in Bangor, ME. I’m asking all the Units of Bektash to join me for the parade on Saturday September 17th in Bangor. Once again, contact the office for hotel reservations and fill out the form to mail to Anah on food/event options.

The New Hampshire Masonic Unity Picnic will be held on Sunday, September 18th at Wellington State Park. Cost is $5 per person, children 11 and younger are free. Lady Kat and I plan to attend, and look forward to seeing the rest of the NH Masonic family. Additional details are available in this issue.

On October 1st, Nashua Shrine Club will be hosting the Annual Oktoberfest. The food was amazing last year so I can only imagine what’s it’s store this time around.

The Anah, Bektash and Kora Tri-Visitation will be held at the Sheraton in Nashua on October 28th-30th. This year WE will be the host Shrine Center. Friday Night will be a Halloween Party, and Saturday will consist of a ceremonial and formal dinner. Additional details are in this issue of the Bektash News.

A website committee had been formed earlier this year and we are approaching the completion of a new Bektash website! Once completed you can view and purchase tickets for events plus keep up with the Bektash news among other things.

Membership should always be on our minds. Without new members, we won’t survive. Please keep searching!

And I haven’t forgotten how busy the Units are during this time of year. Weekend after weekend YOU keep spreading the message of both our Hospitals and our Fraternity. Shrine ambassadors doing what you do best!!

Thank you all and please, keep up the great work!!
