Hi Everyone,
I usually start off with something about the weather but “nuff said” about that. If you’re like me and work outside, you have had enough weather comments for this year. But at least it’s not snowing!
August has been a very busy month for Bektash and all its officers. There have been many small events and parades with the units active in our community along with two major ones in our building.
This year the Lady Amy Freeman Memorial Golf tournament was held in August. The event was chaired by Ill PP Bent Norris and Lady Tracy. What a great day, Pembroke was in great shape and everyone had a great time. After the golf, a lunch was held at Bektash with raffles and loads of prizes. The date for 2025 has already been confirmed as September 22nd.
As I write this I am fresh from the “Rides for Rides” motorcycle ride that was held to raise funding for our “Transportation Fund”. The transportation fund is becoming more and more important as our hospitals transition from on site to multi location. There were 52 riders and 11 passengers that took part in the ride from Bektash to Winnipesaukee lodge. The weather was perfect and all had a great time. The ride was escorted by two Officers from the State Police on their patrol motorcycles and we didn’t stop once either way receiving first class treatment. The ride was followed by lunch prepared by the Chefs and live music from Southern Breeze. A very big thank you to Michael Lothrop (Assistant Director) and Evan McIntosh (Chief Rabban) for organizing this event.
September is looking like a busy month so looking forward to catching up with you in person.
Regards,
Ill Alan Fillingham.
