It’s great to be back from Imperial!! It’s great to be back at Bektash!!
Illustrious Evan will expound in his remarks the goings on at Imperial Session.
This past month Dixie and I have been working on a number of projects and at last Monday’s finance meeting several projects were approved.
We have located a company to come in and realign our partition. This has been an ongoing issue and thankfully it is everyone’s hope that this work will get the partition to working properly again. It looks like this work will occur in early August.
The finance committee also has been looking at another building maintenance issue that being the doorway area adjacent to the door that leads outside from the hallway closest to the Nobility Room. There is significant water damage in that area and that too will be addressed soon.
Also, on the building maintenance side of things, the Divan is looking at the lower siding around the building. There is significant water damage that needs to be addressed and thus that too will be addressed.
Presently there are enough funds in the general fund to do this work but, this could potentially lead to a shortfall in the fund and thus the Divan has discussed this and will be looking to you, the Nobility, to address an issue that we have not been very good at over the years.
Every year our Chief Rabbans present a budget once they are Potentate Elect. Much work goes into this, and it is not a simple task. There is a building line item and every year there is a number associated with that line.
What we all fail to remember is that we have several investment accounts specifically associated with the building and those monies are to be used for the building. We, however, rarely use money from these accounts and we should be doing this as that is exactly what they are there for.
In essence, we should be reimbursing the general fund when we do these repairs and or upkeep maintenance to the building.
With this in mind, in September at our Stated Meeting we will be asking you, the Nobility, to do just that. The Divan, specifically Treasurer Walters and I will be bringing forth figures for you to approve for the purposes noted above to reimburse the general fund.
And, looking to the future, when budgets are being prepared, there will be two line items pertaining to the building.
One will be for dealing with the general day to day operations, taking care of cleaning products, trash bags, etc. Those usual items one would expect would come from general operation of the facility.
The second will be for those capital expenditures over and above the daily maintenance costs that the Divan recognizes during the year as needed for keeping our building viable and ensuring this valuable asset we all enjoy is properly maintained and or cared for. Those funds will come from the building investment funds on a yearly basis. Your Divan looks forward to presenting and discussing this in September.

The summer picnic on the 26th of July at Hidden Valley campground and golf club in Derry!! PP Norris and Lady Tracey always put on a great event!!
August 9th there is the Ceremonial!! Let’s make sure we have a great event for our new Nobles!! Director Lothrop and Asst, Director Tuttle, JR. have been working on getting this together. Let’s all do our best to support them and these new Nobles!!
And it’s not too soon to be talking about the Tri Visitation we are hosting in North Conway!! October 24 thru the 26th at the North Conway Grand Hotel!! Information on that event will be coming out soon!!
