Recorders Corner February 2026

Happiest of New Years to all from the Recorders Office!!

It’s mid-January as I write this and it has been quite busy here at Bektash!!

What a great Installation for Illustrious Ken and Lady Dixie!! The Installing Suite did a fantastic job!! Qudos to you all!! And how great was it to see Illustrious Past Potentate William “Bill” Hebert!!

The musical selections selected by Ills Ken and Dixie that were played for each elected officer as they were escorted in by our Grand Lodge Officers brought so much fun to the afternoon!! Humor was most certainly the best buzz word for that portion of the event!!

I am sure you all join me in wishing Ills Ken and Dixie nothing but success for the upcoming year.

The weekend prior to the Installation was extremely busy. A very successful gun show occurred on Saturday and Sunday. The promoters have already reserved another weekend for another show in November. And what’s important to note is that not only was there rent revenue generated but our Chef’s also profited by providing great fare for the attendees and vendors.

A recurring theme that I find myself reporting on is that of Dues. THANK YOU NOBLES for your attention. And YES!!, the new dues cards are starting to come in the mail. As a reminder, they are being sent in “batches” and thus some will be coming out just after new years and I suspect another “batch” being sent out at the end of January. I will keep you updated as I receive infor-

mation from Headquarters. And please, be patient. That is the recurring theme Dixie and I hear during our monthly zoom meetings with Headquarters.

The Potentates Valentines Ball will actually be held on Valentine’s Day this year!! Please make your reservations early for this fun event. And bring a friend or two!! As usual, the always entertaining “Pie Auction” will occur!! Let’s make this another record year for our event!! More details are included in this edition.

This past Friday the 16th I attended the legislative hearing on HB 1324, relative to the taxation of Masonic properties. There were approximately 17 parties in attendance from various Lodges, Grand Lodge and appellate bodies who signed in in support of the legislation. MW Dan Hotchkiss, RW James Lawrence and PGM Joan Smith gave excellent, in my opinion, testimony as to reasons why this legislation “ought to pass”.

While this would not affect us here at Bektash, let’s all follow this legislation as it progresses through the process and when called upon, reach out to our legislators in support of this effort.

And don’t forget that monthly Chef’s Sunday Breakfast!! The next Sunday this occurs is the day February 8th!! Hope to see you all there!!.

Finally, thanks again for your continued support of Bektash Shrine and hope to see you all soon!!

Lloyd, PP
