Greetings all from the Office of YOUR Recorder!!
SPRING HAS SPRUNG!!
Some very important matters I need to convey having returned recently from the joint Treasurers and Recorders conferences in Amarillo, Texas so I will get right to it!!
One of the largest take aways from the meeting was how a Shrine in the mid west was dupped for over 2 million dollars. After a lengthy discussion facilitated by the Treasurer that found the issue, Dave and I are pleased to report that we at Bektash have policies and procedures in place that having this happen to us extremely difficult.
What’s important to note is that making these types of matters impossible is simply not possible. That being said however, having proper protocols and procedures makes the likelihood of this occurring far less likely. We are doing a good job here and will continue to monitor our process to make this occurring here extremely difficult.
Another topic addressed at the meeting was insurance and lessening exposure by reducing liabilities. This an area where you folks in Units and Clubs can help with.
First and foremost, parading units should always make it known and must start making it known to the office of all of you events. This notification not only covers you by our insurance provider but also can act as advertising as, we intend on placing these lists in the Bektash News. These announcements thus inform nonparticipating Nobles and their families with the knowledge that you are appearing in activities in their area they may not be aware of!! Supporting our people is what we should all be about. What better way of demonstrating this by more people participating if simply that participation is being on the sidelines cheering our Nobles on!!
Public appearances that are not parades should also be reported to the office. Again, this is vitally important for insurance purposes. It’s all about making sure you Nobles are covered during these events!!
Finally, for this edition, I will touch on another extremely important requirement of the Imperial By Laws, General Order # 1. Units and Clubs should be conducting their annual elections by Oct 31st. We in turn must report those and have those uploaded to Web Fez by the end of the year. Thinking about what goes on here in the office in November and December, the earlier you conduct these elections and get that information to us here in the office, the better. Thanking you all in advance for your assistance with this matter.
Recently, Dixie and I have seen an uptick in returned correspondence and Bektash News booklets. Please make sure we have your most current address so that we may ensure you get everything we send out!! E-mail addresses too!! Thanks so much for your attention to this.
With all the formalities out of the way let’s talk about upcoming events!!
The N.O.A.H. group is scheduled to meet on May 3rd at Twins Smokeshop in Londonderry. 12PM start time. Come and enjoy a stick and a beverage with your fellow Nobles and friends!! Yes, bring a friend!!
Fun and Fellowship Fridays start up again on Friday the 8th of May!! Looking forward to Tacos and Tequilla hosted by Chief Rabban Hunter and Lady Emile!! Looking forward to seeing you all there!!
Also on the schedule is a chicken barbeque on May 30th!!
I am pleased to report that our building outside renovations are almost complete!! What a difference in our appearance!! This place looks fantastic. Couple this with the Divan engaging a professional landscaper to come spruce up the property, what a marked improvement!!
Finally, please don’t forget our next STATED MEETING on June 15th!! Formal meeting begins at 7PM. As usual, light fare will be served prior to the meeting. We are hopeful to be initiating several new members at this meeting!! Please come and be a part of welcoming these new Shriners!!
