Recorders Corner November 2025

Nov 1, 2025 | Recorder

Imp. Sirs, Illus. Sirs, Nobles, Ladies and friends!!

Welcome to fall!!

A quick note to explain the issues with last month’s mailed edition of the “News” being so late.

What can best be described a series of “technical glitches” left us with unforeseen problems getting the edition printed. These have all thankfully been rectified and thus we are back on track and thank everyone for your patience as we navigated through it all.

For those of you that missed the Prince Edward Island NSA, what a great event!! While the weather cooperated for most of the weekend, a little rain on Saturday morning, the skies cleared, and the sun shown down on everyone participating in the parade!!

Gorgeous country coupled with outstanding hospitality by not only the Shriner’s but the communities visited by all. Our friends to north are truly that and hopefully they enjoyed us as much as we enjoyed and appreciated them. Donna and I can’t wait to go back!!

As I write this, we are making last-minute preparations for the Tri-Visitation in North Conway.

It will be quite an event 11 Shrine Centers being represented!! Looking forward to seeing everyone!!

Our new BEKTASH SHRINE CENTER sign is up. While we still await the final electrical connections for the lighting, it truly does look great!!

There are ongoing discussions as to the old sign and being able to possibly use it as a rolling billboard for parades and put out during events. Nothing gets wasted here at Bektash!!

In last month’s report it was noted that lighting around the building still needs some updating. The Divan has moved forward with this project and next week upgrades and additional lights will be installed just in time for the time change and most importantly the Fez tival of Trees. These upgrades will enhance visibility and lessen our liability exposure.

Other building issues being addressed are the damaged and rotting T-111 siding that surrounds the building and the leak near the Nobility room exterior access door. This must be done as the potential for structural implications is a major concern.

A friendly reminder Nobles, dues notices went out via e-mail a little while ago and mailed notices should be arriving any day now. PLEASE, if you are having difficulties with making your dues obligation or want to make the payment other than via the web site, please give us a call in the office. We are here to help!!

And yes!! If you have paid your dues, the first batch of dues cards have been sent out. Once you have paid, cards will be forthcoming in “batches” from Tampa. Please be patient as the batching is being done to save mailing costs. All of this was re-iterated during our monthly training from Tampa this month.

And another friendly reminder. It’s that time of year that Clubs and Unit should be meeting and electing their slate of officers for the coming year. Please, Unit and Club heads, get this information to the office as soon as we are under a Nov. 1 deadline to get these updates to Headquarters. Thanks to those of you that have already handled this matter. And we look forward to seeing you at the December Stated Meeting for your formal installation!!

Assistant Rabban Brent Hunter and Lady Emily remind everyone that this year’s Feztival of Trees meetings are well under way and we need everyone’s help!! The Feztival is just a tad under a month away!! This year’s event is coming together nicely but as noted, we need YOUR help!! Upcoming meetings are noted in this issue. And tree donations are already coming in!! Get yours in soon to ensure a spot!!

Sunday Morning Breakfast will be on November 9th!! Hope to see everyone as the Chef’s continue to do a great job!!

In conclusion, I wish to take a few moments to thank all of you for your continued support of Bektash and particularly me in the position as your Recorder. My tenure of assisting at the Arena concluded on Oct 1. Thankfully a great match has been found, and the Arena is in great hands. I look forward to the coming months and the many activities we have coming up here at Bektash and most of all, working with and assisting all of you in whatever way I can!!

Fraternally,

Lloyd
