Recorder’s Ramblings December 2024

Dec 2, 2024 | Recorder

Well, another annual Feztival of Trees has passed into the history books. From the looks of the public’s response and attendance, we should have made a profit. Please consider volunteering for this fundraiser in 2025.

Speaking of 2025, our famous Bektash Cash Calendars are now in the office. We’ve gone away from the magnetic ones in favor of the full-size paper calendars. For only $ 25.00 you will be entered into a daily drawing for the duration of the year. That means for just under seven cents a day, you’re eligible to win $25, $100, or even $200 in the monthly drawing. When you win, your number is not removed from the system. As many times as your name is drawn, you can win again and again. I think it’s a pretty good deal. Call the office to reserve your calendar, as there is a limited number of them available. They make great Holiday gifts, too.

I’d like to take a moment to thank our “Transportation Heroes” and their Ladies. Your temple appreciates your willingness to volunteer your valuable time to help get our patients and their parents to their respective appointments at Shriners Childrens Clinics and Hospitals. As with all hospitals, most procedures are day surgeries, and the kids go home after they’re done. The days of long stays are over, and many times our Transportation Heroes must hang around until the Doctors have finished the treatments. We salute your dedication to our kids and giving your time to this important cause!!

Please consider coming to the Annual Stated Meeting of your temple on December 16. We understand that it’s close to the holidays, but the decisions made and election of your officers and representatives affect Bektash for years to come. Yes, your input and attendance are paramount. Without you, there would be no Bektash. Simply put, we need you.

This will be my last “Ramblings” as I’m retiring from my post as your Recorder. It has been a real pleasure and wicked big fun to serve you and Bektash. I’ve made friends and met so many Nobles that I cannot count them all. Please support our incoming officers and share their excitement by participating in the events we have.

We go this way only once…make the most of it!

It’s truly great to be a Shriner,
Tom Brison, PP, Recorder
