Recorder’s Ramblings January 2024

Dec 29, 2023 | Recorder

We’d all like to congratulate our incoming Divan for 2024 who were elected at our December 18th Annual Stated Meeting. Their names are listed on the next page. Also, our Representatives to Imperial Session in July were elected. Our Ill. Potentate Alan Fillingham and Chief Rabban Evan McIntosh will be attending the legislative session in Reno and voting on your behalf.

Ill. Sir Bill Hebert relinquished his job as Treasurer and is moving out of New Hampshire. We all wish him and Lady Sharon the best in their future endeavors. They will be missed here at Bektash.

I can’t stress enough the need for some articles and pictures for your Bektash News. I know you Nobles are out there participating in parades and events. What better way to promote your Unit or Club is by submitting a couple of pictures and a quick paragraph explaining what you’re doing. It’s free advertising for you. Who can pass up anything that’s free? Please send your information to our editor via email. Dan Salo does a great job with our Bektash News and his email address is Editor@Bektashshriners.org

Our Grand Master, MW Dan Hotchkiss is in the process of leading the way to educate our NH legislature on the good works of our local lodges and appendant bodies. Our Masonic affiliates have a rich history of charitable work. Unfortunately, some towns and cities do not waive or give tax abatements on our Blue Lodge’s property taxes. Obviously, this cost subtracts from our ability to fundraise for our charities. Yes, this includes your Shrine facility in Concord. We support and applaud your efforts MW Hotchkiss and wish you the best.

We’re always learning about something here at Bektash. A couple weeks ago, Ill. Hebert and I learned how to “sanitize” our ice machine in the kitchen. It should’ve taken about an hour and a half, but after numerous attempts at working the software, we discovered we had the manual for the wrong model. It was quite funny. Thank goodness for You Tube and cell phones. We found a video and downloaded it onto our phones, and then the process went smoothly. It’s always something!

Hope to see you at one of our upcoming events. Ill Alan Fillingham and Lady Susan have an exciting year planned.

Isn’t it great to be a Shriner?
