We at Bektash would like to congratulate and welcome our 10 new Shrine Nobles. They were created at the Potentate’s Valentine’s Ball on February 11th. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the event, but I’ve heard from everyone that it was an evening to remember!
It’s that time of year again when all the Units and Clubs must remember to submit their financial reports for 2022. If you have a checking account, please remember to contact our Treasurer, Ill. Bill Hebert to arrange including him as a signer for the account. Imperial By-laws explicitly say that the Treasurer must be a co-signer. This is for your protection if something goes awry with the finances. That way, your Temple can get involved recovering your money. You can email Ill. Hebert at: Treasurer@ bektashshriners.org for more information.
We are always looking for more Nobles to help us out with the transportation of our Shrine kids to their hospital appointments, or a trip to the local airport to drop them off with their Mom or Dad. We proudly speak of our commitment to our medical services that we provide, but we must also seize the opportunity to “walk the walk” when our help is needed. If you can spare a couple of hours every few months, you will be fulfilling your pledge as a Shriner and a Mason. Anything you can do will be appreciated by our patients and their families. Call the office at 603-225-5372 and we’ll put you in contact with our transportation chairman for orientation.
As I mentioned in last month’s Bektash News, you do not need a smart phone or an Apple phone to display your dues card. You do not have to download the app and you do not have to buy a new phone. If you attend a Shrine event that requires you to present your card, you can use the one in your wallet. Your card is scanned when you arrive at the door even without a 2023 sticker, and it will tell you if your dues are up to date (providing you have paid!). It’s actually pretty easy.
On a sad note, we have lost a dear friend and Shriner. Ill. Sir Bushie Hill, PP and Past Recorder laid down his working tools and passed to the Celestial Lodge above on February 8, 2023. Washington Lodge #61 did a wonderful job performing the Masonic Service and the event was well attended by many Masons from around the state. He was a gentleman’s gentleman and will be greatly missed by everyone he touched in his life.
It’s nice to see that you nobles have been taking photos at your different events. Truth is, a picture is worth a thousand words and it helps recruit those who may be interested in your unit or club. Keep ‘em coming!
That’s all for now…..Isn’t it great to be a Shriner?
Fraternally,
Tom Brison, PP Recorder
