It’s that time of year again. You should’ve gotten your Bektash Shrine dues notice by now. If you’ve paid, that’s wonderful and thanks for your support. We are migrating away from the yearly stickers on the dues cards. If you attend a Shrine event (either here in NH or anywhere in the world), your card is scanned, and it will allow you to participate. When the code on the back of the card to the left of the signature box is scanned, it tells you if your card is up to date. Each Shrine Temple has scanners which are connected to the Shriners International membership database, making it easy for all involved to attend events.
Thank you, Ill. Mark Simard for donating and installing a hand washing sink by our bar in the main hall. This will allow our Bartenders to wash their hands and dispose of unfinished drinks without heading out to the bathrooms. I’m sure it will be used regularly, and we appreciate your fine work, Ill. Simard.
Our annual Feztival of Trees is right around the corner. If you can donate a few hours for this very important fundraiser, please contact Lady Emelie Hunter, Volunteer Coordinator at (603) 421-4659. She will be able to fit you into the schedule and put your talents to work.
At our Stated Meeting in September, we voted to amend the bylaws of Bektash to eliminate the need for a yearly financial audit. According to Imperial bylaws, we must provide an annual financial statement from a CPA as opposed to a full blown, time-consuming financial audit. I’m pleased to report that the amendments to the bylaws have been approved by the Shriners International Jurisprudence Committee, and the Imperial Recorder’s office. With the help of Noble Dan Salo, we will be printing the new bylaws soon. If you want a copy, we will have several on hand in the office. It will also be available in electronic format (MS Word and MS Publisher).
Here’s wishing all of you a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving.
Isn’t it great to be a Shriner?
Tom Brison, PP, Recorder
