Wow, if you didn’t attend the Northeast Shrine Association Field Days in August, you missed a fun event. We had 16 different Shrine Temples who participated in the parade on Saturday. It was an hour and a half of fun and pandemonium on the street. Clowns, motorcycles, minibikes, more clowns, mini monster trucks, floats, clowns to name a few. Oh yes, did I mention clowns?
Our temple photographer, Bob Reynolds took tons of pictures and we’ve published a few for you to see. We’re working on making a slide show of all the photos on our website: BektashShriners.org. The Bektash Divan showed up in Tyrannosaurus Rex outfits and hammed it up for the crowd. A great time was had by all!
I would be remiss if I didn’t thank all you nobles and ladies who selflessly donated your time and efforts to make it all happen. When something needed to be done at the last minute, someone always jumped in to help. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
We should be getting the finish coat done on our driveway soon. We’ve requested the contractor to install an eight-inch-deep cement apron in front of the dumpster out in the back of the building. It seems that when the truck comes to empty the dumpster, the weight of the vehicle had made the old pavement cave in. This should prevent that from happening on our new driveway. After the new pavement cures for a couple of days, they’ll come in and do the striping for parking. It’s been a long process, but we can finally see the end of the tunnel now.
Some of you have asked what the construction is next door to the east side of our building. A developer is building three apartment/ condominiums. We are not privy to the information of when they’ll be done, but they are moving on at a fast pace.
When you come to visit your temple, you may have seen a couple of “No Trespassing” signs at the entrance to our driveway. Just so you know, this is your building, your fraternity, and you shouldn’t hesitate to come on in. We’ve had a lot of large trucks and various vehicles drive into the back lot to watch the construction. With our new pavement, we must discourage excess traffic until our lot is completed.
We hope to see all you Nobles at our September Stated Meeting right here at 189 Pembroke Rd in Concord on Sept. 18. Camel’s milk and light fare are to be served starting at 6:00 PM. Come on over and see your new parking lot…you’ll not be disappointed.
It’s great to be a Shriner!!
Fraternally,
