Recorder’s Ramblings September 2024

Aug 29, 2024 | Recorder

The weather held out for us at the annual Amy Freeman Memorial Golf Tournament. According to the weather guys, we were supposed to a monsoon. It was cloudy, but the rain held off until the end of the day. The Bektash Chefs provided enough cheeseburgers, hot dogs and Italian sausages to feed an army at the end of the game. There were lots of good silent auction items donated to help with the fundraising. Our thanks go out to Ill. Brent Norris and Lady Tracey for organizing and executing such a fun event.

I’m glad I didn’t golf with any serious players, but we had a “wicked good” time with only minor injuries. But I do want to find out who entered my name on the longest drive sheet…for the Ladies. Very funny, anonymous person!

As a reminder, please consider coming to the Bektash September Stated Meeting. We will be voting on a by-law amendment which will have an impact on your temple finances in the future. There’s an article explaining it all in this issue of the News. Please take a moment to look it over.

We’re getting ready for the Northeast Shrine Association trip to Kingston, Ontario, CA. The bus will leave Bektash on Sept 19 at 8:00. I’ve sent emails out to all the nobles who will be with us. Ladies…I don’t have all your email addresses, so ask your noble about the details that were sent to them. It includes an attachment about the dress code, meals, etc. Just like last year at Bektash, there will be unit competitions, banquets, a big parade and of course, hospitality. This trip promises to be loads of fun!

I can’t stress enough the importance of your unit or club submitting articles and pictures to our Bektash News Editor, Dan Salo. Dan works hard putting our monthly publication together. It’s free advertising for your group. Don’t let this opportunity slip through your fingers. This is YOUR Bektash News.

The dual lights and pole have been installed at the right rear of our parking lot, providing light and security to all when parking out back. The lights are LED which are a big savings over traditional illumination. All the rest of our outdoor lights have been upgraded to LED’s and are using sensors to power on between dusk to dawn. No more dealing with timers.

Hope to see you at the September 16th Stated Meeting!

It’s great to be a Shriner!!!
