Uniformed Units
Bingo
Prerequisites for joining: Member in good standing of Bektash Shriners.
Unit information: The purpose of this unit is to run Bingo to raise money for Bektash.
Membership: We have a committee of 5 as well as many workers, (21 people per night is ideal).
Meeting Schedule: As needed (not many)
Dues: None
Chefs Unit
Prerequisites for joining: Member in good standing of Bektash Shriners.
Unit information: The Bektash Chefs are nobles that operate the kitchen at Bingo every Thursday night, the Feztival of Trees and Easter Eggstravaganza among others events throughout the year. They own most of the equipment in the kitchen and govern its use.
Clown Unit
Unit information: In addition to Shrine events, we work with municipalities, organizations, and other fraternal orders to participate in their parades, old home day celebrations, and other community events. The Bektash Shrine Clown Unit makes donations made at those events at the beginning of the each year to the 3 area Shriners Hospitals for Children.
We also donate funds to the Sneaker Fund which, along with other donations from all the other clown units throughout the country, helps to fund research for burns treatments and cosmetics for children.
In addition to parades, we also do smaller events where we provide a minimum of 2 clowns for a minimum of 2 hours to do balloon twisting, provide hand outs, and generally entertain kids of all ages.
Legion of Honor
Prerequisites for Joining: Member in good standing of Bektash Shriners and a member or veteran of the Armed Forces.
Unit Information: The purpose of the unit is to promote a closer fraternal and social relationship, maintain an Honor Guard and a uniformed body, foster a spirit of patriotism and love of country and Flag, perpetuate the memory of our comrades in Arms who died in the service of their country and to serve the Illustrious Potentate in the betterment of Bektash Shriners. We are a uniformed unit and wear the campaign ribbons and the military shoulder patch of your individual branch of service. We carry the Colors and the flags of Canada, Mexico, Panama and the State of New Hampshire. We participate in various Shrine activities and march in many parades throughout the State of New Hampshire.
Meeting Schedule: Meetings are held at the Bektash Shrine Center in Concord, NH on the third TUESDAY of the month, except January (annual meeting) and July (annual picnic).
Membership: The unit has over 80 Legionobles from all over the State of New Hampshire.
Dues: $10.00 yearly.
Other costs: Uniforms are in the $100 price range and the installation fee is $5.00.
First Section
The First Section work with the Director to perform the formal degree work (stage plays) at Shrine Ceremonials several times per year as needed.
White Mountain Hillbilly Clan
Background: The Hillbillies were started in the late 1960s at El Hasa Temple in Ashland, Kentucky, by Noble Jim Harris. Harris decided there needed to be a sideline degree that devoted its time and resources to the Shrine Hospitals. He received permission from his Potentate to start The Grand and Glorious Order of the Hillbilly Degree. Calling on his experiences as a real Hillbilly, he then wrote a ritual. Today, it is the largest group within the Shrine, with more than 170 Temples having charters.
Membership Information : White Mountain Hillbilly Clan is the 10th oldest clan in the country! Membership is open to nobles and their ladies!
Membership Dues and Benefits:
Pa’s (Men) – $50, Ma’s (Women – $25), Couple – $65
Membership gets you a membership card, hat & feather, corncob pipe
Mini Cars
Prerequisites for joining: Member in good standing of Bektash Shriners.
Unit information: Our main purpose is to raise money to donate to our Shrine Hospitals. We perform precision drills with 5 hp go-carts in parades in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts. We also have a red tow truck.
Membership: We have about 25 members.
Meeting schedule: The unit meetings are scheduled as needed May through October.
Dues: $25.00 yearly (includes insurance).
Other costs: Our cars are privately owned and maintained with no expense to the unit. The Mini-Kar we drive is a 4 wheel 5 hp go-cart with a 1954 red Corvette body. A new car costs approximately $1,500. If a used car is available, it is approximately $1,000.
High Rollers
Prerequisites for joining: Member in good standing of Bektash Shriners.
Unit information: The unit is a motorized mini monster truck patrol that was formed in 1992. We have fun parading around the area. After some of our parade dates we have a cookout and enjoy ourselves along with our families.
Membership: We currently have about with 8 trucks.
Dues: $5.00 yearly.
Other costs: It is not necessary to purchase a truck but if you want to they are about $2,500.00. Our uniforms are red polo shirts and jackets with our logo.
Stewards
Prerequisites for joining: Member in good standing of Bektash Shriners.
Unit information: The Bektash Stewards are a group of Nobles that operate the bar at every Bektash function among other events as needed.
Mariners Shrine Yacht Club
Prerequisites for joining: Member in good standing of Bektash Shriners.
Unit information:
Shriners of North America, is an International fraternity based on fun, fellowship, and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, truth and relief. Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of hospitals dedicated to providing one-of-a-kind specialty pediatric care, innovative research and understanding teaching programs.
In April 1973 the Board of Directors of the International Council officially recognized the International Association of Shrine Yacht Clubs “IASYC”. The IASYC body represents among its affiliated Shrine Temple Yacht Clubs the ambassadors of good will among the boating fraternity.
Bektash Mariners Shrine Yacht Club was founded in March 2012, and Joined the IASYC in May that same year. BMSYC is an inner body providing good fellowship among members of Bektash Shrine who share an interest in boats, boating and kindred pleasures-such as skiing, fishing and cruising.
